Alberta Chambers of Commerce Priorities Set
at ACC's 87th AGM & Policy Plenary

Edmonton — Delegates from local chambers across Alberta adopted 29 policy resolutions to advocate with the provincial and federal governments during the Alberta Chambers of Commerce (ACC) annual general meeting in Medicine Hat on May 31, 2025.

The Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce President, Steven Pudwell, was pleased to host this year's provincial conference, bringing together influencers from across the province to contribute to the growth of our province while immersing in unique experiences within the region. "This event allowed us to showcase many of our incredible facilities, tour the community, and see our agricultural roots in Cypress County and "Experience the Energy" in Southeast Alberta."

The annual Policy Plenary session is a highlight of the ACC AGM. Policy recommendations put forward address issues ranging from long-standing concerns such as regulatory reform and interprovincial trade, to emerging challenges related to market access for Alberta energy and products, Indigenous economic inclusion, and strategies to enhance rural business resiliency.

ACC President and CEO, Shauna Feth says the priorities of business leaders are reflected in the policy recommendations put forward by community chambers. "Our policy recommendations are shaped not only by the diversity of Alberta’s business community—from small-town entrepreneurs to major industrial players—but also by the rapidly evolving economic and political environment,” says Feth. "Chambers of commerce maintain deep, consistent engagement with local businesses, allowing us to directly reflect their priorities. This grassroots foundation is what sets the chamber network apart. When we advocate at the municipal, provincial, or federal level, we’re not just speaking on behalf of business—we’re echoing the voices of our members across the province.”

Feth noted that the high level of engagement of 32 local chambers in Medicine Hat signals a strong voice for business in the coming months and years.

Kristi Hines, who will Chair ACC for 2025-2026, oversaw the policy process as Policy Committee Chair for the past year. “Every policy we advance is aimed at removing barriers and driving success for Alberta business. These policy recommendations are rooted in what matters most to entrepreneurs and employers today. Local chambers are instrumental in shaping and championing these ideas. Together, our network ensures that Alberta’s business community has both a voice and a path forward in today’s economic landscape.”

“The chamber network across Alberta has firmly established itself as a partner for business success. As I take on the role of Chair of the Alberta Chambers of Commerce in 2025, I’m energized by the opportunity to help lead this network and continue driving meaningful support for Alberta’s business community. We are focused on ensuring businesses and chambers have the tools and representation they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving economy.”
