Clear communication is critical to workplace safety. When safety policies, procedures, or instructions are unclear, rushed, or overly technical, the risk of errors and incidents increases—particularly in diverse workplaces.
The Alberta Chambers of Commerce, in collaboration with AWES, is offering a webinar focused on introducing plain language as a practical, proven approach to improving workplace communication and safety.
Drawing on real-world examples from Canadian workplaces, participants will gain practical tools they can apply to safety documents, training materials, and day-to-day communication. Clear communication helps reduce mistakes, build confidence, and improve safety outcomes.

Tamara Jorgic, Executive Director, AWES Tamara is an experienced educator and project leader with a strong background in adult education, workplace training, curriculum development, and plain language communication. She has worked across the non-profit, community, and post-secondary sectors, developing and delivering skills training that supports safety, inclusion, and productivity in diverse workplaces. At AWES, Tamara leads initiatives focused on making workplace communication more accessible especially for newcomers, ESL learners, and workers with literacy challenges. She is passionate about helping people build the skills they need to succeed at work and believes that clear communication is key to safer, more effective workplaces. |

Leila Samahnejad, Business Development and Project Lead, AWES Leila brings over 20 years of strategic leadership experience in adult and workplace education. With a master’s degree in education, Leila cultivates relationships with government agencies, industry partners, and community stakeholders to design sustainable employment and training initiatives.
