ACC launches Vote Prosperity campaign to inform provincial election and a stronger Alberta
EDMONTON — Today, the Alberta Chambers of Commerce (ACC) is launching Vote Prosperity to inform the 2023 Alberta election — a platform of Alberta business leaders’ priorities for the next provincial government. The campaign builds on highly successful Vote Prosperity campaigns the Alberta chambers network ran to inform the 2019 provincial and 2021 local elections.
"Alberta businesses are the backbone of our economy, supporting working families across the province, and that’s why chambers will take the message of Vote Prosperity to every candidate in every community," says Feth. “Our objective is to achieve coherent, comprehensive pro-growth policies from all political parties that will sustain our current economic momentum –– and position Alberta to lead nationally and advance shared prosperity throughout Canada.”
The Vote Prosperity campaign is non-partisan and not candidate specific, with four pillars to support a stronger Alberta: strengthening business competitiveness, growing provincial trade, building healthy communities, and improving government accountability.
Vote Prosperity provides a series of sixteen proactive recommendations for all of Alberta’s political parties to adopt to sustain economic growth and the vibrancy of local communities. These recommendations are drawn from the ACC network’s grassroots policy process and ongoing surveys of the business community and members of the public through the Alberta Perspectives research program.
"When we talk about Alberta's overall competitiveness, the decisions of government make Alberta either an attractive or unattractive place to do business," says ACC President and CEO Shauna Feth. " Alberta businesses have identified priorities to continue helping job creators to strengthen the provincial economy over the long term, and to promote a more competitive national business environment.”
“Our recommendations inform a path forward to advance shared opportunity in this province because when you vote for prosperity, Alberta wins.”
